CLEVELAND, Ohio -
Tari Boutin had 19 kills to lead four Panthers in double figures as UWM scored a 26-30, 30-24, 30-19, 31-29 win over Cleveland State Friday night.
The win keeps the Panthers (14-11, 9-1) one-half game ahead of Loyola in the Horizon League standings. The Ramblers beat Butler in three games Friday night.
Sarah Potts tallied 16 kills and 17 digs, Larissa Cattanach added 12 kills and Karen Fruit 11 as the Panthers won for the ninth-straight time in league play.
"It was a battle," UWM head coach Kathy Litzau said. "Cleveland State was really good. They forced us to play our best ball. It was a total team effort."
The Panthers recovered from dropping game one by battling through 12 hitting errors in game two before hitting .630 in game three and .265 in game four.
Cleveland State (16-9, 3-6) wound up hitting .278 for the match and Jamie Bouyer collected a career-high 24 kills, but it was not enough to keep the Vikings from losing to the Panthers for the 16th-straight time.

UWM continues its Ohio road trip Saturday, facing Youngstown State at 1 p.m. CST.
