UWM Tennis Drops Pair In Indy

Coming off their first win since 2001 last weekend, the UWM women's tennis team dropped a pair of matches 5-2 to IUPUI and Indaiapolis, in Indianapolis, Saturday.

In the morning, IUPUI upended the Panthers with wins at the No. 1 through No. 4 singles spots, with the Panthers claiming wins at No. 5 and 6. Sophomores Megan Brown and Erin Felber picked up the wins for UWM. Brown won her fourth match of the season with a 7-5, 6-1 effort at No. 5, while Felber picked up a win at No. 6, 6-2, 6-2. In doubles, Brown teamed with Tammie Spiel for an 8-4 win at No. 3.

Against Indianapolis, feshman Margie Van Lieshout picked up UWM's highest win of the day with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles. Also winning in singles was Cassie Kuranz at the No. 4 spot, 6-1, 3-6, (10-5). Spiel remained perfect in doubles on the day, teaming with Melissa Hackett to claim the 8-4 win at No. 3.

The Panthers will return to action this Thursday and Friday at the Michigan State ITA Regionals in East Lansing, Mich.
