In game one, UWM scored 11 times in its final three at bats to break a 3-3 tie. The Panthers scored six times in the fourth on a two-run home run from Dave Pudlosky, a homer from Guden, a two-run single from Darin Haugom, and an RBI single by Mike Oiler. Matt Freisleben and Jason Crawford combined for three innings of scoreless relief as Eastern Illinois (31-17) could muster just five hits. Matt Houk, Scott Gillitzer, and Eric Goerdt had three hits apiece in game one, while Pudlosky was 2-for-3 with 3 RBI in game two. Gillitzer did go hitless in game two, snapping his school-record hitting streak at 22 games.
UWM (31-15), in first place in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference, is now two wins away from tying a school record for victories, and has won at least 30 games for the fourth consecutive season.
The Panthers play a doubleheader at Chicago State tomorrow afternoon, then wrap up the regular season with a four-game home series against Butler Friday night.
