UWM Tennis Falls to Wright State

Oct. 20, 2001

MILWAUKEE - The UWM women's tennis team dropped their first Horizon League match of the 2001-02 season to Wright State Saturday.

The Panthers were swept for the second straight day by the Raiders, having lost to Western Illinois on Friday.

"We hung in there with them and never gave up.," head coach Erin Grambow said. "Wright State is an incredibly tough opponent, they're one of the best in the league. "

Things started off slowly for the Panthers, as they lost all three doubles matches, none closer than 8-3 in No. 1 doubles. UWM's troubles continued in singles play, as freshmen Megan Brown and Erin Felber were the only two Panthers to win more than two games in a set during the match.

Today's match with Green Bay, which was to have been played last weekend in Green Bay but was postponed due to the weather, was again postponed. No makeup date has been set.

The Panthers have completed the fall portion of their schedule. Their next competition will be on Feb. 24, 2002, when UWM plays host to Northern Illinois. A site for the match has yet to be determined.
