Milwaukee - Eleven strikeouts by UWM pitcher Mike Oiler were not enough as the Panther baseball team lost, 7-4, to UIC in a Midwestern Collegiate Conference game on Sunday at Henry Aaron Field.
UWM fell to 6-3 in MCC games, 19-18 overall. UIC is 8-5, 21-22.
UWM starter Oiler shined through the first five innings, allowing just two hits and striking out eight batters. But in the sixth inning, the Flames scored four runs on three hits and a pair of walks for a 4-2 lead.
Oiler pitched seven innings, allowing six hits and four runs. He struck out 11 and walked four.
The Panthers scored in the third inning when Scott Gillitzer led off the inning with a walk, moved to third on a Todd Ludwig double and scored on a UIC error.
Darin Haugom gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning with a solo home run to right field.
UWM scored a pair of runs in the eighth. Eric Goerdt singled to lead off the inning and scored on Brett Huebner's double. Huebner scoured on a groundout later in the inning.
The Panthers are next in action on Wednesday with a pair of games at Eastern Illinois.
