Panther Baseball Falls to Wright State

MILWAUKEE - The UWM baseball team fell to .500 on the season after a 20-4 loss to Wright State on Sunday at Henry Aaron Field.

UWM is now 15-15 and 4-2 in MCC competition. Wright State is 12-22, 3-5 in the MCC.

UWM starter Corey Clemmons took the loss and fell to 0-2 on the season. He pitched three innings, allowing seven hits and six runs (five earned). Matt Freisleben pitched in relief of Clemmons and allowed six earned runs in two-thirds of an inning.

The Raiders scored a run in the first inning, but the Panthers' Darin Haugom belted a solo home run on the first pitch of the bottom of the inning to tie the score.

The Raiders scored three in the second inning and eight in the fourth to take a 12-1 run. Wright State added three insurance runs in the fifth, two in the sixth and three in the eighth to put the game out of reach.

UWM scored three runs in the seventh inning when Eric Goerdt hit his eighth home run of the season with two runners on base.

UWM is back in action on Wednesday when Bradley comes to Henry Aaron Field for a 1 p.m. doubleheader
