Box Score

Murfreesboro, Tenn. -- The UWM baseball team was swept in a double header against Middle Tennessee State on Friday. The Raiders won both games by the score of 4-3.

In game one, UWM was not able to take advantage of a strong pitching performance by Chad Sadowski, who scattered eight hits in the complete game effort. He allowed four earned runs and struck out four batters.

UWM (4-11) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the game, and then scored two runs in the sixth inning to take a 3-2 lead. But the Raiders responded by scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for the 4-3 final score.

Sadowski went 3-for-3 at the plate, and Eric Goerdt went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the game.

In game two, UWM failed to capitalize on a strong effort on the mound by Mike Oiler. The sophomore pitched into the seventh inning, allowing seven hits and three earned runs as he struck out five.

The Panthers scored single runs in the first and fourth innings and led, 2-1 in the top of the seventh inning. Scott Gillitzer hit a solo home run in the top of the inning to give UWM a 3-1 lead, but Middle Tennessee State (12-11) rallied for three in the bottom of the inning for the win.

The same two teams play a single game on Saturday.
