Jacksonville, Ala. - The UWM baseball team earned its first two victories of the season when it swept Jacksonville State in a doubleheader on Monday by the scores of 11-0 and 13-3.
Chad Sadowski picked up the win on the mound in the first game by throwing a complete-game shutout. He struck out six batters and walked one.
The Panthers broke open a 5-0 lead with six runs in the seventh inning. Brett Huebner led the Panther attack by hitting two home runs and knocking in five runs.
In game two, Mike Oiler pitched into the fifth inning, allowing three earned runs to get the win. Freshmen Aaron Bushong and Rob Erickson also pitched in the game, as did senior J.J. Kotarak, who made his collegiate debut as a pitcher. An All-MCC designated hitter, Kotarak pitched a perfect seventh inning, striking out two batters.
Huebner added another home run in the game, and Sadowski hit a three-run double and had four RBIs in the game.
UWM scored eight runs in the third inning to build a 10-0 lead.
The Panthers play on Tuesday at Samford in Birmingham, Ala.
