UWM held Skovbakken scoreless for 9:43 of the first half en route to a 79-45 exhibition victory over their visitors from Denmark Thursday night at the Klotsche Center.
Dan Weisse led four Panthers in double figures with 15 points. Chad Angeli added 13 points and six rebounds, while Jason Frederick and Clay Tucker pitched in with 11 points apiece.
UWM led 16-11 with 12:32 to play in the first half before embarking on a 14-0 run to put the game away. The Panthers held the Bears to 0-for-8 shooting and forced five turnovers during their almost ten minute scoreless streak.
"They hit that rough spot," coach Bo Ryan said. "We discouraged them, and they never really recovered. When we get to be defensively the way I'd like us to be, that's how our teams will play."
The Panthers held Skovbakken to 37 percent shooting in the game, and forced 17 turnovers. The Bears were also outrebounded 43-23, and didn't claim an offensive rebound until 13:05 remained in the game.
Offensively, UWM shot .433 from the field, and made 11 three-point baskets. The Panthers also collected 18 assists while making just 10 turnovers.
The Panthers begin the regular season Nov. 19 at Iowa. The regular season home opener is Nov. 21 against Lipscomb (Tenn.).
