Panthers Claim Exhibition Win

Nov. 1, 2000

MILWAUKEE - The UWM men's basketball used a 48-9 run to blow past the California All-Stars 95-60 in an exhibition contest Wednesday night at the Klotsche Center.

The Panthers trailed 37-24 with 2:42 to play in the first half, but scored the final 11 points of the half to pull within two. UWM then scored 37 of the first 46 points of the second half.

Senior Chad Angeli scored 27 points and Clay Tucker scored 19, while Jason Frederick added 18 off the bench.

"I just wanted them to take care of the ball a little better," Ryan said of his team's first half struggles. "In the second half, we handled things extremely well."

UWM made 12 of 27 three-point shots, and shot 54.5 percent for the game.

"I'm not sure as this isn't one of the best shooting teams we've faced," California All-Stars coach Price Johnson said. "Bo Ryan is doing a great job with these guys, and they're going to be a scary team to face."

UWM outrebounded the all-stars 35 to 26 and had 23 assists on the evening.

The Panthers return to action Thursday, Nov. 9 against Skovbakken of Denmark.
