Box Score

Milwaukee - The Bo Ryan era captured its first home victory Monday night as the UWM men?s basketball team topped Michigan Tech, 86-52. The win moved the Panthers to 4-2 on the season, their best start since the 1992-93 campaign.

Five Panthers scored in double-figures for the first time all season. Junior center Chad Angeli paced all scorers with 18 on five of nine shooting and eight of 10 from the charity stripe. Angeli also posted a team high five boards.

Other Panthers in double-figures were Jason Frederick with 17, Ronnie Jones with 13, Mike Sowder with 11, and Shaun Fountain with 10. In all, 10 Panthers contributed in the scoring effort.

?Its always about the game?s little things that we are getting down,? said Ryan. ?I?m happy with the effort but we need to direct it.?

Michigan Tech, which brought an impressive 4-1 Division II record into the contest, was never able to sustain a run after trailing, 33-21, at halftime. Jason Kredier led the Huskies with 15 points and seven rebounds.

?They?re under sized but they?re not underhearted,? said Michigan Tech head coach Kevin Luke of the Panthers squad. ?They were gonna kill us with the penetration or with the shooting. I guess they killed us with both.?

The Panthers travel to Ames, Iowa on Dec. 8 to take on Iowa State at 7:00 pm. This marks the third ever meeting between the two schools with the all-time series tied at one.

UWM returns home on Dec. 11 to take on Fairleigh Dickinson and Dec. 14 to play host to Bethune-Cookman.
