Milwaukee - The UWM men's soccer team exploded for six goals as the Panthers defeated Detroit, 6-2, on Sunday at Uihlein Soccer Park.
Bobby de St. Aubin and Tony Colvin led the charge with two goals each. The Panthers improve to 9-5-1, 3-0-1 in the MCC.
"Anytime you beat a team 6-2, you're supposed to be happy," said UWM coach Louis Bennett. "We had several opportunities to practice our finishing around the goal. I am concerned about the two goals we allowed, though.
"But a conference victory is what we asked for before the game, and that's what we got," added Bennett.
The Titans scored the game's first goal in the 19th minute, but the Panthers responded with the next five goals.
Blake Bostwick began the UWM scoring when he took a pass from Dan Dulyx and scored from 10 yards out. The goal came in the 31st minute.
The Titans held off the Panther offense until the second half when the Panthers scored three goals in seven minutes. Colvin scored his first when he headed in a pass from Byron Huson in the 51st minute.
One minute later, De St. Aubin scored his first goal from 16 yards out.
Colvin fed Joe Luedke in the 58th minute on a one-on-one opportunity with the goalkeeper from six yards out.
Colvin scored his second of the game in the 72th minute. Luedke passed from the left side to Colvin, who tapped the ball into a wide-open goal.
De St. Aubin rounded out the scoring with a 22-yard blast in the 86th minute.
The Panthers round out their home schedule this week with three home games, beginning with Northern Illinois on Wednesday, Oct. 20. Kickoff is 7:00 p.m. at Uihlein Soccer Park.
