MILWAUKEE - The UWM women's soccer team improved to 9-6-1 on the season with a 2-0 win over Creighton on Friday night at Uihlein Soccer Park.
"I was pleased," said UWM coach Michael Moynihan. "We created a lot of opportunites tonight."
Sophomore Meghan Peot began the scoring in the ninth minute when she blasted the ball from 20 yards out. Creighton had just cleared a Panther corner kick and Peot one-timed into the goal. It was Peot's first career goal.
"That was an awesome goal by Peot: just a blast," said Moynihan.
Emily Jesson's run in the 71st minute set up Stephanie Hosni's goal. Jesson chipped the ball over a defender to Hosni, who beat the keeper. It was Hosni's fourth goal of the season, and she leads the team with 11 points.
"That was a nice goal as well," said Moynihan. "It was a good touch past the keeper."
Creighton applied offensive pressure late in the game and scored a goal in the 88th minute.
