Terrence Howard joined the Milwaukee men’s and women’s track and field teams as throws coach in October 2021, and enters his fifth season with the Panthers in 2025-26.
In his most recent season, 2024-25, Howard helped guide Josh Cygan to a Horizon League Title as a freshman in the Discus. Jeremiah Johnson in the Hammer Throw, and Mercedes Herrera in the Discus, each placed third at the league championships under Howard's coaching.
In 2023-24, Howard coached Tabitha Wechlo to a pair of program records in the indoor and outdoor shot put, along with an outdoor shot put championships. Wechlo also qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds in the shot put.
In his first two seasons with the program, Howard led the Milwaukee throws team to a number of individual championships in the Horizon League. Lauren Lietzke has won four individual championships under Howard’s watch, while Caleb Rogalski won three crowns between the 2022 and 2023 championships. The pair were named Indoor Outstanding Field Performers in 2023.
Howard joins the Panthers after one season as an assistant coach at Marquette University. Prior to Marquette, he volunteered as a youth track coach for four years at Park Center Senior High in Minnesota.
Howard won Big East Championships in the outdoor discus and the indoor weight throw during his time at Marquette and was named All-Big East nine times over his four-year career.
A native of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Howard earned his undergraduate degree in corporate communications from Marquette in 2019 and his master’s degree at Marquette in management with a certificate in sports leadership.
