Following a five-year stay as a student-athlete with the Milwaukee cross country and track & field programs, Maddie Wood returns for her fourth season as a volunteer assistant coach at her alma mater in 2025-26.

A local product that came to Milwaukee from nearby South Milwaukee High School, Wood was a distance specialist for the Panthers during the track & field season. She competed in six different events throughout her time with the Panthers posting career-best marks of 2:21.76 in the 800, 4:48.41 in the 1500m, 5:15.68 in the mile, a 10:48.27 in the 3000m, and a 19:16.02 in the 5000m. In addition, she posted a personal-best mark of 12:14.63 in the 3000m steeplechase.

She had two career wins at Milwaukee including the spring 2018 distance medley relay team that was first at the Benedictine Relays and Invitational at 12:51.94; while also winning the mile during the 2018-19 indoor season at the Panther Tune Up with a time of 5:18.22.

During her cross country career, she ran 20 career races with the Panthers and posted a career-best mark of 22:49.6 in 6K races, 19:38.9 in 5K races, and 20:19.5 in three-mile races.
