Adam Thompson was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Business Operations in May of 2025.
Thompson was hired to the position of Director of Business Operations in March of 2023 and is responsible for managing the Milwaukee financial operations, including budget projections, planning, developing, and managing all athletic program budgets. In his new position, Thompson will join the MKE Senior Leadership Team and will take on a larger role in the overall department budget management work.
He came to Milwaukee after a 15-month stint at Brown University in Rhode Island, where he served as the Assistant Business Office Manager. While at Brown, Thompson helped develop the business office website while also assist in the management of the day-to-day business operations of the department’s 34 varsity programs.

Prior to his time at Brown, Thompson was an athletics graduate assistant at Cleary University in Howell, Michigan. While there he served as chief editor of the year-end reporting for the NAIA financial aid, compliance, and roster information. He also redesigned the scholarship report while with the Cougars.

Thompson also held an Administrative Associate title at his alma mater, Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan in the MSU Athletics Business Office.

He also spent the 2018 season as a member of the Detroit Tigers ground crew and was a lead student employee with the Lansing Community College Athletic Department from August of 2015 through May of 2017.

Thompson received his Bachelor of Arts in Finance from Michigan State in May of 2020, before adding his Masters of Business Administration in Strategic Leadership from Cleary in June of 2022.
