Rachel Neuberger is starting her first season as an assistant volleyball coach at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. That comes after one season on the bench as a graduate assistant with UWM.

Neuberger was a standout on the court for UWM from 2010-13, earning countless accolades including being named the Horizon League Player of the Year as a senior.

"I'm thrilled to bring Rachel on as a fulltime assistant," Johnson said. "Obviously she was an incredible player and she was one of the best leaders we've ever had in this program. She also has direct experience working with the program this past fall. It's a very easy transition to have Rachel on our staff. She knows what the program is about and she understands, not only how to be successful, but what it takes to stay successful."

Neuberger was a graduate assistant with the Panthers last season, helping them rack up 17 wins and finish league runner-up both in the regular season and conference tournament.

Prior to that, Neuberger was an incredible four-year player for the Panthers, helping the team to new heights. She helped Milwaukee to three regular-season league titles, two conference tournament championships and a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances. In fact, Neuberger was a key part of the 2011 team that broke countless school and league records, finishing the season 25-5 overall and a perfect 16-0 in league play and nearly pulling off the upset of Iowa State in the NCAA Tournament.

In addition to being named league player of the year as a senior, Neuberger was named Horizon League Newcomer of the year as a freshman. She also was named AVCA Honorable Mention All-American as a sophomore, along with three all-league selections and numerous all-tournament teams.

"I am very thankful for the opportunity that Susie and Lindsey have given me," Neuberger said. "To be able to work alongside those two is an incredible honor. I am excited to continue to be part of this strong program and university."

Neuberger joins assistant coach Lindsey Vanden Berg on the Panther bench, also a former standout on the court for the Black and Gold.

"Having two alums as assistant coaches is a real honor," Johnson said. "It's amazing for the program to show not only the stability, but also that alums want to stay and contribute to the success and help us to get better and better."
