Carpio joins Milwaukee after spending two years as volunteer assistant coach at Creighton University under head coach Kristen Bernthal Booth. In 2019, Carpio was part of the BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year. He assisted in scouting, practice planning, on-court training, and gameday operations with the Bluejays.

In his two seasons on staff, Creighton finished 54-11 overall and 35-1 in BIG EAST play, earning a pair of BIG EAST titles as well as the 2018 BIG EAST Tournament. The Bluejays were ranked in the top-25 every week while he was on staff.

Prior to his time with at Creighton, Carpio served as both the Indoor and Beach Volleyball manager at the University of Arizona. He also served as head coach and technical advisor for the Southern Arizona Volleyball Academy (SAVA) for three years.

In 2017, Carpio was one of 10 recipients of the America Volleyball Coaches Association Diversity Award.
