Mallory Lieberman was named an assistant coach for the Panthers in the summer of 2019.
“I am excited to have Mallory rejoin our program,” head coach Troy Fabiano said. “As a former player, she is familiar with our culture and understands what it means to wear the Milwaukee jersey.”
Lieberman, better known to Panther fans as Mallory Geurts from her goalkeeping days at Milwaukee (2015-17), put together a stellar collegiate career between her time at MKE and Parkside. She led the nation in goals-against average (0.27 GAA) as a sophomore All-American for the Rangers in 2014, posting an 18-1-3 record with 15 shutouts.
Her first season at Milwaukee (2016) saw her as the Horizon League leader in goals-against average (0.75), save percentage (.827) and shutouts (6).
She topped that all with her senior campaign, played every minute in net for the Panthers over the course of the year, finishing unbeaten at 16-0-4 while setting a school and Horizon League record by posting a 0.285 goals-against average. She allowed just six goals in close to 1,900 minutes, establishing program and Horizon League records with her GAA, 14 shutouts and .905 save percentage. In fact, her season GAA went into NCAA record book as the 19th-best all-time.
In just two seasons at Milwaukee, she finished her career fifth in victories (28), third in shutouts (20) and first in both career goals-against average (0.50) and save percentage (.861). One of the top goalkeepers in the nation in 2017, she finished third in the NCAA in shutouts, fourth in GAA and fifth in save percentage. She opened the season with nine consecutive shutouts to set another school and league record and her scoreless streak reached 917:27, again a school and conference mark as well as the ninth-longest scoreless streak in NCAA Division I history.
Lieberman went on to play professionally with Västerås BK30, based in Västerås, Sweden. She also played for AS Saint Étienne in France.
