Kyle Rechlicz has announced the addition of Mariah Knox as a graduate manager and video analyst to the Milwaukee women’s basketball staff for the 2018-19 season.
“We are thrilled to announce that Mariah will be joining our Panther family,” Rechlicz said. “Her tireless work ethic and positive mindset is exactly what we are looking for in our next graduate assistant. She is in coaching for all the right reasons and her values match our culture perfectly here at Milwaukee. I know Mariah will enhance our program in a multitude of ways. I can’t wait to mentor and help her grow into the great coach that I know she will be in a few years.”
Knox comes to Milwaukee after a successful four-year collegiate career, spending the last two and Kansas Wesleyan in Salina, Kan. With the Coyotes, Knox finished averaging 8.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, including starting 29 of 31 games as junior to help lead KWU to a 20-12 record. That came after spending her first two collegiate seasons at John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Ark. In all, Knox racked up an impressive 65 wins over her four years on the court.
From the coaching side of the game, Knox also already has a handful of experience despite just graduating college. She has worked as a coach as basketball camps for the last six years and interned with the U.S. Junior Nationals this past summer in Champaign, Ill. Under the direction of Chris Mennig and Mike Flynn, Knox played a vital role with the USJN/Bluestar staff. She directed daily tournament operations, managed tournament staff, analyzed and conducted player evaluations, collected and organized inventory and communicated regularly with parents and officials.
“I am so enthused by the passion coach Kyle Rechlicz and her staff have for UWM,” Knox said. “I am eager to learn, grow and give all that I can to coach Rechlicz and the Milwaukee women’s basketball program. I knew Milwaukee was exactly where I wanted to be. Their emphasis on hard work, trust and family within the team spoke volumes about the culture and dedication they have to continue their success. I am honored to be a part of this program and compete for a championship with the Panthers!”
Knox recently graduated from KWU with her bachelor’s degree in Sports and Exercise Science with an emphasis in personal training and coaching.
