2026-27 Men's Basketball Roster
Biography
Amare Hereford has signed with the Milwaukee men's basketball program and is set to play for the Panthers next season, head coach Bart Lundy officially announced today.
Â
Hereford is one of the top seniors in the state and was named as a finalist for the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association's prestigious "Mr. Basketball" award following an impressive career at Beloit Memorial High School.
Â
"Amare will be a star here at Milwaukee," Lundy said. "He will be a fan favorite from the beginning. He is a complete basketball player but probably has as good of an ability to score as I've seen in any high school player. He is a great student and a great worker and completely fits our culture. We are so excited that he will represent the city of Milwaukee and the state and especially his hometown of Beloit."
Â
The 6-foot-2, 175-pound guard led the program to a 24-3 campaign this past winter, and the team was the No. 2 seed heading into the WIAA Division 1 playoffs. He separated himself from other top players statewide with his prolific offensive production, finishing as the top scorer in the state of Wisconsin with his 37.5 point-per-game average.
Â
Hereford scored 49 points in his final contest at the state tournament and leaves Beloit Memorial as the program's all-time leading scorer. In addition to his impressive scoring ability, he shot over 60 percent from the floor overall, close to 45 percent from three-point range, and well over 80 percent from the free throw line. He also averaged 8.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 3.9 steals a night for the Purple Knights.
Â
Hereford brings a great ability to create shots for himself and blends his quickness into being an elusive shot-maker. The 2025-26 Southern Lakes Conference Player of the Year held offers from numerous programs before making Milwaukee his final destination.
