Biography

2007: Earned Second Team All-Horizon League honors after batting .290 with a team-high seven home runs ... made 56 starts, scoring 36 runs and driving in 32 ... ended the season on a 20-game hitting streak, raising his average from .252 to .290 ... the streak was the fourth-longest in UWM program history ... had seven hits and drove in seven at the Horizon League Tournament ... went 3-for-4 with two runs against UIC march 23 ... hit two home runs to tie career-high with four RBI against UIC April 17 ... went 3-for-3 with three runs in win over Chicago State May 8.
 

2006: One of seven UWM regulars over .300, finishing season at .325 with 47 runs batted in ... had 28 extra-base hits and slugged .560 ... second on the squad with 13 multi-RBI games ... went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored, three RBI and his first home run of the season against Northern Illinois Feb. 26 ... recorded a career-high four runs batted in to lead UWM to a win over #20 Missouri March 5 ... career-best four-hit effort against Akron March 18 ... belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to get Milwaukee past Youngstown State April 15 ... went 3-for-3 with three RBI versus Cleveland State May 6 ... named to the Horizon League All-Tournament Team ... ended the season on a nine-game hitting streak that included 12 runs batted in ... hit .370 versus lefties and .359 with runners in scoring position ... also pitched for the Panthers, going 1-1 in eight games on the year, making one start against Indiana State April 4.

2005: Made 26 starts in 29 games in the field, hitting .247 with 10 extra-base hits ... went 2-for-4 with three runs and three runs batted in against Rhode Island March 19 ... hit first home run in a Panther uniform versus Cleveland State April 24 ... went 2-for-2 with four runs batted in, including a three-run home run, at Northwestern April 26 ... had a season-high two hits on five occasions, including a 2-for-4 performance where he added two runs and two runs batted in against Western Michigan May 10 ... also pitched for UWM, earning three saves in 17 appearances ... struck out a season-best six batters in 4.1 innings of work versus Cornell Mar. 21 ... picked up the victory with 5.1 innings of relief against IPFW April 6 ... tied the Horizon League Tournament record with two saves, closing out wins versus Youngstown State and UIC on the same day May 28.

Prior to UWM: Played one season at Purdue for head coach Doug Shreiber ... batted .256 with a double, one home run and three RBI.

High School: Four-year letterwinner at Marquette High School in Milwaukee ... named the 2002 Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association State Player of the Year ... batted .525 as a senior with 12 home runs and 58 RBI ... three-time First-Team All-Greater Metro Conference selection ... three-time all-state honoree at Marquette High.

Personal: Parents are Richard and Lisa Brockel ... majoring in marketing at UWM ... played for the Twin City Stars in the Central Illinois Collegiate League in the summer of 2006 ... born May 5, 1985.
