Cal Hejza

Following a two-year stint as the Director of Player Personnel and Scouting at the University of Illinois, Cal Hejza joins the Milwaukee baseball coaching staff for his first season as an assistant in 2026-27.

During his time in Urbana-Champaign, Hejza created and developed scouting reports using analytics and video, while contributing to the program’s recruiting analysis, opponent preparation and player personnel decisions.

No stranger to the Fighting Illini baseball program, Hejza was a four-year member of the team from 2021-24. A four-year regular, he played in 187 career games and recorded 147 hits, including 23 doubles and 12 home runs, while driving in 90 runs. He drew 98 walks, posted a career .357 on-base percentage and scored 127 runs.

In his four seasons, the Illini won 113 games, including a second-place finish in the Big Ten in 2022 before winning the regular-season championship and an at-large bid to the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship in 2024.

Hejza was an ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove finalist at shortstop as a senior and was ranked as the top Division I shortstop in defensive runs saved. He was also a Brooks Wallace Award semifinalist, recognizing the top shortstops in the country.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois in May 2025.
