Local recruit comes home after one season at Oklahoma

May 04, 2026

MILWAUKEE – Jake Hansen of Wauwatosa, Wis., has signed with the Milwaukee men's basketball team and will transfer into the program to play next season, head coach Bart Lundy announced today.

Hansen, a 6-foot, 1-inch, 170-pound guard, comes to the Panthers following playing this past winter at Oklahoma.

"We are excited to add Jake to our program," Lundy said. "He is a high-character individual with a tremendous work ethic who adds toughness and shooting to our team. Being from the area, he is another player who will have tremendous pride in wearing the Milwaukee jersey."

The in-state standout is a Wauwatosa West High School product who put together a stellar prep career that culminated in leading the Trojans to the 2025 WIAA Division 2 State Championship, finishing the season with a 24-6 record. The team defeated Racine Park, 60-57 in overtime, in the title game with Hansen sinking the game-sealing free throws in the closing seconds.

A three-star recruit by both 247Sports and On3, Hansen was ranked as the No. 11 overall prospect in Wisconsin and the No. 79 shooting guard nationally by 247Sports. The four-year starter earned selection to the 2025 Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II All-Star Game and was also named a WBCA Elite Individual Academic All-State honoree, highlighting his success both on the court and in the classroom.

As a senior, he averaged 18.4 points a game, shooting 44.2 percent from the floor, 40.7 percent from three, and 87.1 percent from the free throw line, adding 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest. He scored a career-high 32 points in outings against both Wauwatosa East and Edgerton during the year.

Hansen finished his high school career with 1,524 points, knocking down 507 field goals, including 245 three-pointers, while adding 265 made free throws. He also recorded 348 rebounds, 203 assists and 103 steals, helping Wauwatosa West compile 76 victories during his tenure.

A prolific shooter, Hansen set the program's single-season record with 84 three-pointers and also had a school-record 16-for-16 performance at the free throw line in a single game. He averaged 17.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists as a junior.

Hansen held offers from Arizona State, Buffalo, St. John's, and others before choosing Oklahoma following his senior campaign.
