MILWAUKEE –
Nic Diana of the Milwaukee men's soccer team has been named the Horizon League Under Armour Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced this afternoon.
Diana kept his scoreless streak in net rolling through a pair of matches last week, leading the Panthers to shutouts against both St. Thomas and IU Indy.
Diana started the week Tuesday with a 0-0 draw against the Tommies, making a pair of saves in the deadlock. On Saturday, he came through in a huge way, recording a career-high eight saves as Milwaukee topped the Jaguars, 1-0.
He now carries a league-low 0.86 goals-against average overall, including a spotless 0.00 GAA through two conference games.
The award is the first of the season for Diana as well of the second of his career – winning the other last season as a member of the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons. It is also the second of the fall for the team, joining
Fernando Pirry who was selected as Offensive Player of the Week Sept. 15.
