MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Athletic Department is set to launch this year's "For the MKE" Athletics Giving Challenge in conjunction with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's campus-wide "414 for UWM Giving Days" next week.
The program involves each of the Panthers' varsity athletic programs, their supporters, and alumni in a giving competition focused on supporting the experience of Panther student-athletes and enhancing specific areas of each program.
There are several options for supporters to participate this year.
*
Team-Specific Giving
- Every team in the Milwaukee Athletic Department has created different giving levels designed around specific dollar amount "totals" associated with its individual program. See
PDF document for a team-by-team breakdown.
*
Wake up and Roar Power Hour Challenges (7 a.m. to 8 a.m. CT April 14)
- Each year, the UWM University Advancement team holds "power hours" – time slots for individual areas of campus to be the main focus of the event.
- In memory of Erika Sander, the first head women's basketball coach in the history of the WBB program, any donor who makes a gift to Milwaukee Athletics on
April 14 between 7-8 a.m. CT. will be entered in a raffle to win an extra $1,000 towards the funds(s) they supported with their gift(s)!
- Also in memory of Erika Sander, the first $1,000 donated during our Power Hour will be matched by MKE Director of Athletics
Amanda Braun.
*
Young Alumni Challenge: If you are a recent UWM graduate, you can help your favorite program secure the most monetary donations from young alumni (Class of 2018 and beyond) and win up to $500 for the program! On 414 Day, the athletic department will match every dollar donated by young alumni, up to $500, to the team with the highest contributions.
Note: Participants do not have to be an alum of the program to participate
*The "414 Day Giving" is now live and can be accessed
HERE.
*The challenge runs from Monday, April 14 through Tuesday, April 15. While it is encouraged that supporters direct their gift to a specific sports program during the challenge, gifts can also be made to the Bud K. Haidet Hall of Fame or to the Panther Excellence Fund, which is the primary fundraising arm supporting the teams, student-athletes, and overall mission of Milwaukee Athletics.
