MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee Director of Athletics
Amanda Braun has been named the 2025 National Girls and Women in Sports Day Champion Leadership Award Recipient, powered by the Milwaukee Youth Sports Alliance.
The organization recently announced the award and Braun will be honored in an event celebrating "National Girls and Women in Sports Day" on February 5.
National Girls and Women in Sports Day is a nationwide celebration which recognizes the accomplishments of individuals in the promotion and advancement of girls and women's sports.
Braun's groundbreaking leadership as the first woman to hold the position of Director of Athletics for the Panthers has been transformative for the institution and community. Her visionary approach has driven remarkable achievements, including:
- Fundraising Milestones: Record-breaking campaigns such as raising over $100,000 on "414 Giving Day" and securing the largest-ever donation for Panther Athletics.
- Facility Innovation: Leading the development of the Orthopaedic Hospital of Wisconsin Center, named "Best New Sports Facility" by the Milwaukee Business Journal.
- Student-Athlete Success: Guiding MKE athletes to achieve academic excellence, with 48 consecutive semesters of GPAs above 3.0 and a recent department record of 3.447.
- Community Impact: Advocating for inclusion and access in sports, Amanda also serves on national committees like the NCAA Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee, furthering equity and diversity in athletics.
This award celebrates Braun's dedication to creating opportunities for girls and women in sports and her tireless efforts to inspire future leaders.
The event will be held at Gather at the Deer District from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on February 5, 2025. Interested individuals can register to attend.
