Panthers Fall At Northwestern

Team off until March 1

EVANSTON, Ill. – The Milwaukee women's tennis team wrapped up a busy stretch of three matches in three days, falling on the road at Northwestern Sunday at Combe Tennis Center.

The Panthers (4-6) faced a formidable foe in the Wildcats (6-4), a team that has advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the past 22 consecutive seasons.

"It was a great experience to play against the number nine team in the country, we fought hard," head coach Mark Goldin said. "We are looking forward to our first weekend off of the season to get everyone back to 100 percent and reset mentally for a big run going into conference and the rest of the season."

The home team was able to secure the doubles point before putting together some strong play in singles action. The Wildcats actually won twice on the day (beating UIC in the morning), giving head coach Claire Pollard her 600th career win.

The Panthers will have a chance to recover and get healthy, not returning to action until March 1 at home against Western Illinois. That match will start at 1 p.m. at River Glen Elite.
