CHICAGO, Ill. – The Milwaukee women's tennis team faced a tough challenge Friday afternoon, falling to UIC by a final score of 7-0 from XS Tennis Village.
The Panthers (4-4) posted strong play throughout against the Flames (3-1) but were not able to pull through for any decisions.
"We didn't get the win today, but it was not an issue of effort," head coach
Mark Goldin said. "The team fought hard and UIC played some solid tennis."
The Flames took care of business in doubles, winning at No. 1 and No. 2 to pick up the point.
Singles play saw several solid performances, but UIC pulled out the decisions.
Nadiia Konieva overcame a one-set hole to force a tiebreaker, coming up just short at No. 1 against Mayu Ushio, 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 10-6.
Up next, the team returns home to welcome St. Thomas Saturday, getting the match underway at 3 p.m. from River Glen Elite.
