MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee Athletics has finalized a new lease agreement with Milwaukee Milkmen Baseball, LLC, securing Franklin Field as the home venue for the Panthers baseball program through the 2030 season.
The new contract features an initial five-year extension with an additional five-year option, ensuring long-term stability for the only NCAA Division I baseball program in the state of Wisconsin.
"We are pleased to extend our long-standing partnership with the Milwaukee Milkmen and Franklin Field," commented Milwaukee Director of Athletics
Amanda Braun. "The ballpark provides an exceptional outdoor practice location and a best-in-class competition venue for our student-athletes, while also offering terrific amenities and a quality fan experience for our ticketed guests. We look forward to many more years of exciting Milwaukee Panthers baseball games at Franklin Field."
Franklin Field will continue to serve as the Panthers' primary competition venue and outdoor practice facility, an arrangement that has already produced notable success on the diamond. Since moving into the stadium, Milwaukee has posted a strong home record, winning at least 12 games in four of its first five seasons at the ballpark. Highlights include the program's first-ever School Day victory this past spring over Northern Illinois, played in front of a record-setting crowd of 2,234, the largest attendance for a Division I baseball game in Wisconsin.
"We are excited to re-sign and continue to call Franklin Field the 'Home of Panther Baseball', said Milwaukee head coach
Shaun Wegner. "The facility is a top-notch venue for game days and provides our student-athletes a first-class Division I stadium. We will continue to work with familiar faces and respectable baseball people that look forward to helping UW-Milwaukee sustain our footprint in Franklin. This extension will provide stability for the future years and allow us to continue to grow our brand in the metro Milwaukee area."
Franklin Field remains one of the premier baseball environments in the Horizon League. The stadium features a full synthetic turf playing surface, professional-grade lighting, a dedicated home clubhouse, and usability that allows the Panthers to train outdoors earlier and more consistently than many northern programs.
"The Milwaukee Milkmen are proud to welcome back the Panthers Baseball program, and their fans and families, to Franklin Field for another five seasons!" said Dan Kuenzi, President of the Milwaukee Milkmen. "We're excited to showcase Franklin Field, and everything we have to offer throughout Ballpark Commons, with the Panther community to enjoy prior to, or after, cheering on the Panthers."
Fans attending games will continue to enjoy the venue's modern amenities, including chairback seating, high-quality concessions, and a full videoboard experience. Franklin Field sits in the heart of the vibrant Ballpark Commons district, offering a lively and engaging atmosphere on game days.
