Milwaukee Falls on Road at Pacific After Strong Tiger Start

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific Tigers shot better than 53 percent through the opening half and built up a 45-20 halftime lead en route to a 77-48 win over the Milwaukee Panthers on Friday evening.
 
The Tigers connected on nine first-half three-pointers including two apiece from Daria Nestorov, Sophia Minermann, and Luisa Anderegg, as Pacific improved to 2-4 on the season.
 
Milwaukee was led by Tierney Madigan with 10 points off the bench on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting night. Jorey Buwalda added nine points, and Sophia Rampulla chipped in seven.
 
Pacific scored the first seven points of the game before Buwalda put Milwaukee on the board. The Tigers outscored the Panthers 28-12 in the first quarter and added a 17-8 second-quarter advantage to take a 45-20 lead into the break. Pacific shot 16-of-30 from the field and 9-of-17 from three in the opening 20 minutes.
 
Milwaukee regrouped in the third quarter, outscoring Pacific 15-11. The Panthers shot 43 percent in the period while holding the Tigers to a game-low 3-for-9 performance.
 
Pacific put the game out of reach in the fourth, making five field goals and going 9-for-9 at the free throw line to secure the 29-point victory.
 
The Tigers held a narrow 35-30 edge on the glass, while the Panthers won the battle in the paint, 26-16. After starting the game 12-for-12 at the foul line, Milwaukee finished 14-of-21 at the stripe.
 
Milwaukee recorded nine steals, including four from Valerie Cassidy-De Falco, who also scored four points. Izzy Pugh contributed six points and four rebounds, while Buwalda led MKE with six boards.
 
Winner Bartholomew scored a game-high 17 points, including seven makes at the line, while Sydney Ward added 16 for Pacific. Anderegg finished with 10 points, and Mindermann added nine on three-pointers.
 
Milwaukee will wrap up the weekend in California on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. (CT) when it takes on UC Davis. The Aggies defeated Jacksonville State, 69-59, earlier Friday in the opening game of the Tiger Turkey Tip-Off.
