PEKIN, Ill. – The Milwaukee women's tennis team kicked off the 2025 season in style Saturday, hitting the road to pick up a 5-2 victory over Bradley at Parkside Fitness.
 
The Panthers (1-0) picked up all possible doubles points against the Braves (0-1) and then claimed victory in four of six singles flights to start the season off on a good note.
 
"It was a great start to the season for the Panthers," head coach Mark Goldin said. "We have been working hard to prepare and came out ready to go for the first match. We didn't give away free points and looked to attack every chance we got all day long."
 
Due to Bradley playing with a depleted roster, the Panthers made quick work of doubles play.  Nadiia Konieva/Nikola Nikolajeva (No. 1) and Sara Simonova/Laure Razet (No. 2) both picked up 6-3 wins to move on to singles.
 
Simonova rolled into singles, defeating Madi Rogers at No. 4 by a final score of 6-1, 6-3. Emilia Durska added a convincing victory at No. 5, topping Compassion Tsai 6-3, 6-1.
 
Razet took the biggest decision, clinching the team win at No. 3 with a 6-4, 6-4 defeat of Bradley's Ruby Tseng.
 
"It was great to see Sara and Laure winning both singles and doubles," Goldin said. "Laure Razet was huge in finishing off the clinching point at No. 3 singles. But it will be a quick turnaround – next up, Providence for our home opener tomorrow. I love competing on court with this team and can't wait to get back at it tomorrow."
 
The Panthers host Providence for the home opener tomorrow, getting underway from River Glen Elite at 10 a.m.
