MILWAUKEE – Senior Associate Director of Athletics Kathy Litzau has been named as a member of the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Committee.
Litzau's term of service on the committee began September 1, 2024, and will continue through August 31, 2028.
"This is a very talented group of people that Kathy will be joining and she will elevate the quality of the committee with her experience as a championship-level head coach," Milwaukee Director of Athletics Amanda Braun said. "This group is committed to working with the membership to ensure volleyball student-athletes have the championship experience they deserve and, given Kathy's knowledge and administrative experience, they are fortunate to have her as a member of the committee."
The Division I Volleyball Committee is the 10-person committee of division one athletics administrators from across the membership charged with selecting and seeding the NCAA Division I Volleyball Championships, completing site selection, and planning and management of NCAA Volleyball Championships. In addition, the Committee is an important conduit to work with NCAA Division I volleyball coaches and membership to recommend and provide feedback on rules changes, championships, and initiatives to advance Division I Volleyball.
Litzau has served as a Senior Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator for the Panthers since 2007.
"I am thrilled and honored to have been chosen as a member of NCAA Division I Volleyball Committee," Litzau said. "I have witnessed firsthand the growth of the sport and am excited to work with other passionate committee members to continue that growth. I look forward to giving back to the sport that has given so much to me and my family."
In her current role, Litzau oversees academic support services, sports medicine and strength and conditioning, and also serves as the sport administrator for women's soccer, women's basketball, and men's and women's swimming and diving.
Prior to transitioning into an administrative role, Litzau spent 14 years as the head women's volleyball coach at Milwaukee, where her teams compiled a remarkable 118-14 (.894) record in Horizon League play over her last 10 seasons. She led her teams to a Horizon League regular-season title in each of her final four seasons at the helm of the program, while the Panthers also won 20 or more matches nine times in her final 10 campaigns. Litzau was a seven-time Horizon League Coach of the Year honoree and guided Milwaukee to eight regular-season conference crowns and six NCAA appearances in her career. She was named to the Bud K. Haidet Milwaukee Athletics Hall of Fame for her accomplishments in 2017.
