Milwaukee Falls To No. 18 Ohio State On The Road

Team heads to play Valparaiso Sunday

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Nationally-ranked Ohio State remained unbeaten on the season, topping the Milwaukee women's soccer team behind a hat trick from Kailyn Dudukovich Thursday evening at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

The Buckeyes (2-0-0), ranked No. 18 in this week's United Soccer Coaches National Poll, got an early goal against the Panthers (0-2-0) and rode that momentum to a 4-0 decision on the day.

After fending off a pair of corner kicks and getting a decent option of its own, Milwaukee gave up a goal in the sixth minute to put itself in a tough spot on the road.

Ohio State did well to defend a pair of MKE corner kicks in the 15th and 16th minutes and then added to the lead with a goal in the 23rd minute.

Parker Donahugh picked up her first start of the season in net and made numerous quality saves on the day, finishing with six. But the Panther offense had a tough time getting going in the first half and the team found itself down 3-0 at the break.

The second half was much better for Milwaukee, creating more chances yet was unable to get into the scoring column. Ellie Rebmann forced a strong save from distance in the 61st minute and Lainey Higgins nearly found the back of the net in the closing moments, only to see another impressive stop preserve the shutout for OSU.

"The bottom line so far this season is that we need to get better," head coach Kevin Boyd said after the game. "The challenge is that we are trying to learn on the road versus Top 20 opponents."

For the contest, the home team recorded advantages of 17-5 in shots, 11-2 in shots on goal, and 5-3 in corner kicks.

Up next, the Panthers remain on the road and travel to Valparaiso Sunday, set for a kickoff of 1 p.m.
