MILWAUKEE – Director of Strength & Conditioning
Bennett Reed has announced the additions of
Garv Malhotra and
Charlie Benforado as assistant strength & conditioning coaches.
In their roles, Malhotra will work closely with the women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, and swimming & diving programs. Benforado will work with the track & field and cross country programs.
Malhotra comes to Milwaukee from San Diego State University in Southern California, where he worked in the strength & conditioning department with the men's and women's basketball programs, as well as the men's tennis and women's golf teams. While there he also created athlete performance and risk assessment profiles, while assisting in the interpretation of movement and performance testing data utilizing force plates.
Prior to his stop in San Diego, Malhotra spent the preceding two years at Cal State University Fullerton, where he spent the second season as an Assistant Sports Performance Coach after serving as a volunteer his first season. While at Fullerton, he worked closely with the men's and women's basketball programs, as well as the track & field team, focusing on the sprinters, jumpers, and hurdlers.
Malhotra is CSCS – NSCA Certified and holds CPR and First Aid Certifications through the American Red Cross. He is also an Applied Performance Coach and a Level 1 Certified Reflexive Performance Reset.
Malhotra graduated from Butler University with a degree in international business with a sports coaching minor in May 2020. He added his master's degree in kinesiology with a specialization in strength & conditioning while at Fullerton, earning the degree in August of 2023.
Benforado graduated from Milwaukee in December of 2022 with a degree in kinesiology, and is currently obtaining his postgraduate degree in kinesiology and is expected to graduate in May of 2025.
In addition to working with the Panthers, he also has experience at Red Schafer MMA, The Pro Lane, Bridgewater Performance and his own CJBPerformance organization as a strength & conditioning coach.
Benforado's previous collegiate experience came locally at Marquette University, where he interned with the department's sports teams including men's basketball, men's and women's lacrosse, volleyball, track & field, and men's and women's soccer programs.
His additional internships included stops at Bridgewater Performance and ETS Performance.
