MILWAUKEE – Opened in July of 2023, the Orthopaedic Hospital of Wisconsin Center is the 16,000 square foot expansion to the Klotsche Center & Pavilion on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee that is utilized primarily by the Panthers men's and women's basketball programs.

The new facility features a full-sized basketball court that mirrors the game surfaces, a basketball strength and conditioning center, video/film room, auxiliary sports medicine and treatment center, and basketball student-athlete lounge.

It didn't take long for the community to notice the amazing new addition to campus.

The Milwaukee Business Journal Real Estate Awards were announced last week (April 26, 2024 issue) and the OHOW Center won the title of "Best New Sports Facility" in the rankings.

"We are excited about the addition of the new OHOW Center and how it will help our student-athletes to compete at a high level," said Cathy Rossi, deputy athletic director and lead administrator on the planning for the project. "A huge thank you to the Milwaukee Business Journal and the judges who participated in the awards selection." Rossi continued, "Even more important we appreciate all the great work put in by everyone involved in this project including JP Cullen, HGA, and the State of Wisconsin as well as countless others who helped bring this project to life."

In its eighth year, the Milwaukee Business Journal Real Estate Awards focus on the best real estate deals and projects completed in 2023, with judges looking strongly at community impact and project success. There was a strong nomination pool to pick from again this year, with more than 50 projects submitted for consideration for the popular Real Estate Awards program. The judges looked strongly at community impact and project success when choosing the 17 winners from a list of remarkable and innovative projects located in Milwaukee, Kenosha, Ozaukee, Racine, Walworth, Washington and Waukesha counties.

Some of Milwaukee's biggest real estate projects have won awards over the years, including the Fiserv Forum, Northwestern Mutual's corporate headquarters, and the BMO Tower in downtown Milwaukee. For 2023, Milwaukee Tool in downtown was named the Project of the Year winner.
