Freeman Named Horizon League Player Of The Week

Honored after big game in which he scored 1,000th point

February 26, 2024

MILWAUKEE – BJ Freeman of the Milwaukee men's basketball team has been named the Under Armour Horizon League Player of the Week, the league office announced this afternoon.

The league honor is the second of the season for Freeman (also Feb. 5) and the fifth of his career. That total is now the highest in program history, passing the four that Dylan Page received (2002-04) in his MKE career.

Freeman averaged 30.0 points in two games this week, as Milwaukee picked up a big win over Purdue Fort Wayne after dropping a heartbreaker in overtime to Youngstown State. Freeman added per-game averages of 4.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 1.0 blocks. He shot 50 percent (21-of-42) from the floor, 38.1 percent (8-of-21) from deep, and 90.9 percent (10-of-11) from the line.

He posted 22 points and eight rebounds against YSU and then followed that up with a season-high 38 points against the Mastodons, going 15-of-24 from the floor while also scoring the 1,000th point of his Milwaukee career. The 38 points tied for the ninth-most in a game in program history.
