MILWAUKEE – Jamichael Stillwell of the Milwaukee men's basketball team has been named the Lute Olson National Player of the Week, the organization announced on Monday.
Stillwell was also named the Horizon League Under Armour Horizon Player of the Week earlier this afternoon.
Stillwell put together one of the most dominant back-to-back stretches of outings in program history this week, averaging 20.5 points and 18.5 rebounds per game in impressive victories over Green Bay on the road and Akron at the MKE Tip Off at Fiserv Forum.
He posted back-to-back double-doubles, shooting 58.3 percent (14-of-24) from the floor and 71.4 percent (5-of-7) from three-point range, adding three assists and three steals.
Stillwell had a season-high 24 points and his 19 rebounds against the Phoenix broke the school record of 18 in a game that has stood since 1995 and he is now second in the nation with his 12.1 per-game rebounding average.
The league award is the first of Stillwell's MKE career and the second of the season for the team, joining
Themus Fulks, who was honored Nov. 25. The national honor is a program first, as the organization's national accolades began with the first year the Lute Olson Award – given annually to the most outstanding men's college basketball player in NCAA Division I competition – was handed out in 2010.
