Group Of Six Selected To CSC Academic All-District Team

Higgins named for third time in MKE career

November 20, 2024

MILWAUKEE – Parker Donahugh, Lainey Higgins, Kristina Karlof, Elizabeth Reece, Senya Meurer, and Molly O'Regan of the Milwaukee women's soccer team have all been named to the 2024 Academic All-District Soccer Team, selected by the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), the organization Tuesday.

The honor marks the third consecutive season for Higgins and a career-first for the rest of the honorees.

Donahugh, the Horizon League Goalkeeper of the Year, was nearly untouchable in league play this season, allowing just two goals in her 10 outings. The biomedical science major was named first-team all-league after leading the league with her 1.26 goals-against average, .776 save percentage, and nine shutouts, while appearing in 19 games overall.

Higgins, a First Team All-Horizon League selection each of the past three seasons, was named the 2024 Horizon League Player of the Year to cap off her career in the Black & Gold. The kinesiology major started all 21 games for MKE this past fall, finishing second in the conference with her 22 points, coming on nine goals – also second – and four assists. She was recently named Horizon League All-Academic for the third straight campaign.

Karlof, a business major, has been a full-time starter the past three seasons, and once again appeared in every game (all 21) this fall for the Panthers. She finished fourth on the team with 15 points, scoring five goals while adding five assists. She was named Horizon League Player of the Week the final week of the season and her five assists finished tied for fifth in the Horizon League.

Reece has been a starter along the back line of the MKE defense since the first day of 2022 season – starting 58 of 59 matches since then. She carries a perfect GPA in the classroom and was a part of defense that allowed just two goals in 10 conference games for a goals-against average of 0.20. In the classroom, she has been a Dean's List and Horizon League All-Academic Honor Roll member every semester and also picked up first-team all-league status in 2024.

Meurer, a communications sciences major, led the way from the MKE midfield while enjoying a banner season, setting career highs in points (10), goals (2), and assists (6/tied for second in HL). She was named First-Team All-Horizon League and has been a regular member of the Horizon League All-Academic Honor Roll.

O'Regan, a kinesiology major, continued to be a big spark off the bench for the MKE offense, finishing third on the team with 16 points. Her point total tied for eighth overall in the Horizon League, while she was also tied for second with six assists and ninth with her five goals.
