MILWAUKEE –
Lainey Higgins,
Kayla Rollins,
Elizabeth Reece, and
Parker Donahugh of the Milwaukee women's soccer team have been named to the Valeo Horizon League All-Academic Team, announced today by the league office.
For Higgins, the award marks a third straight season she has been honored; the award is a career first for Rollins and Reece, while Donahugh was named as an honorable-mention selection.
Higgins, a First Team All-Horizon League and United Soccer Coaches All-North Region Third Team selection in both 2023 and 2022, repeats on the top league squad. She has started all 17 games this fall and has 19 points on eight goals and three assists. Her point and goal totals rank second in the conference and she was also named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Soccer Team the past two years.
Rollins, the reigning Horizon League Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year, has taken things to a new level this season and once again tops the Horizon League with her 26 points and 12 goals – a number that ranks No. 14 in the NCAA this fall. In league-only games, Rollins ranks first in goals (9), first in shots per game (3.89), first in total shots (35), first in SOG per game (1.89), first in total shots on goal (17), first in game-winning goals (4), and first with 19 points. She has also been a regular member of the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll.
Reece has been a starter along the back line of the MKE defense since the first day of 2022 season – and has now started 54 of 55 matches since then. She carries a perfect GPA in the classroom and is a part of defense that has allowed just ONE goal in nine conference games for a goals-against average of 0.11. She has also been a Dean's List and Horizon League All-Academic Honor Roll member every semester.
Donahugh has been nearly untouchable in league play this season, having allowed just one goal in her nine outings. That one goal allowed in 810 minutes translates to a miniscule 0.11 goals-against average. The next closest HL goalkeeper carries a 0.59 GAA and the next closest to her eight clean sheets checks in with just three. She brings a scoreless streak of 465:53 into play this week, having posted five consecutive shutouts – the first MKE keeper to do so since 2019.
The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests. An Honorable Mention team is awarded to student-athletes who received at least 25 percent of votes, but did not make the All-Academic team.
