INDIANAPOLIS – For the third time this season and second consecutive week Milwaukee freshman forward Jorey Buwalda has been selected as the Horizon League Freshman of the Week as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.
 
Buwalda was an integral part in helping the Panthers to a 2-0 week with wins over Robert Morris on Thursday and Youngstown State on Saturday afternoon. Buwalda averaged 13 points per game, which included 17 against the Colonials followed by a nine-point performance versus the Penguins.
 
This week she connected on 61.5 percent of her attempts from the floor going 8-for-13, while also knocking down 2-of-5 from beyond the arc this week. From the line, she continues to be one of the top free throw shooters in the Horizon League going 8-for-9 on the week and is now 51-for-61 on the season.
 
Buwalda also finished the week with six rebounds, including four against RMU, while she finished the week with three steals and one assist.
 
On the year, she is averaging 8.4 points per game, and 5.6 rebounds per contest through the team's first 19 contests, which includes seven starts for Buwalda. On the year, she is second on the team with 106 rebounds, and is fourth on the team with 16 steals.
 
Milwaukee heads back on the road this weekend, with the Panthers beginning its two-game trip to Michigan on Thursday evening as MKE will take on Oakland at the O'Rena beginning at 6:00 p.m. (CT).
