Ari Miller Recognized by Horizon League as Player of the Week

September 05, 2023

INDIANAPOLIS – On Tuesday, the Horizon League announced its players of the week for the second week of the 2023 season with Milwaukee's Ari Miller selected as a recipient for the seventh time in her Panther career.

Miller helped Milwaukee to three wins in four matches this week, including the program's first-ever wins against Montana State, St. Thomas, and Northwestern on Saturday and Monday, respectively. Following her performance at the three matches at the Tommie Invitational, Miller was also selected to the All-Tournament Team.

Through four matches Miller continued her impressive offensive output to start her final collegiate season with 49 kills over 15 sets and had a .412 hitting percentage on 97 swings. Miller currently has a .398 hitting percentage, which is 21 percentage points in the clear of the second closest student-athlete in the Horizon League. She is also second in the Horizon League with 86 kills through the team's first seven matches.

Beyond her offensive output, which also included two service aces, Miller had a strong showing on defense at the net as she collected 18 blocks including two solo blocks. Her 28 blocks currently lead the Horizon League, as do her 26 assisted blocks.

Her kill and block totals have her tops in the Horizon League with 108 total points, for an average of 4.00 points per set.

This is Miller's first selection as Horizon League Player of the Week for the 2023 season, and first since October 13 of the 2021 season.

Milwaukee gets back to action on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m., when the Panthers play Idaho followed by Western Illinois at 3:00 p.m. at the SIUE Tournament in Edwardsville, Illinois.
