Aaron Franklin signing

Panthers Add All-American Aaron Franklin To MBB Roster

Averaged 22.0 points per-game last season

May 06, 2023

MILWAUKEE – Aaron Franklin of Kansas City, Mo., has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Milwaukee men's basketball team, head coach Bart Lundy officially announced today.

A 6-foot, 5-inch, 210-pound guard, Franklin transfers into the MKE program following an All-American campaign as a redshirt freshman at Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kansas.

"Aaron is an amazing student-athlete," Lundy said. "He will be great on the court but just as valuable on our campus. He is a high-level player and an even higher-level student. His basketball skill set allows him to score and guard near the rim and out on the perimeter. To be a freshman All-American shows the respect he received from coaches around the country. We expect Aaron to make an immediate impact on our team."

Franklin was named an NJCAA Division I Third-Team All-American this past winter following a season in which he averaged 22.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 49.2 percent from the floor for the Blue Dragons, who finished 20-12 on the season.

His 22.0 ppg scoring clip led the Jayhawk Conference and placed him 10th in the nation, scoring 703 points and knocking down 80 3's while helping his team to a program record 97.2 ppg average. In addition to his team-leading scoring average, he also topped the Blue Dragons in steals (60) and assists (72), helping him land KJCCC's Freshman of the Year honors as well as First-Team All-Region VI and First-Team All-KJCCC accolades.

He netted double-figures in all 32 games, including 19 contests of 20-plus points as well as five games of over 30 points. His season high came against Pratt in late January when he poured in 38 points. He posted 10 double-doubles highlighted by a 25-point/18-rebound outing against Seward County in early January.

Franklin also played at Hutchinson as a true freshman, limited to six games (10.0 ppg) while missing most of the season battling injuries.

Franklin closed out his high school career at Raytown High School (Mo.) in impressive fashion, named First Team Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Class 6 Boys All-State following a senior campaign in which he averaged 22.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.0 blocks per contest, shooting 52 percent from the floor. Tabbed the District Player of the Year and to the all-district squad, he helped the team to a conference championship and finished with over 1,000 career points.
