Bluejays Stay Hot Against MKE Women’s Tennis

Panthers will take on Marquette next

OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton extended its strong start to the season by claiming a 6-1 victory over the Milwaukee women's tennis team Sunday at Hanscom Tennis Center.

The Panthers (4-6) were playing from behind after dropping the doubles point against a Bluejays (7-1) program that had come into the weekend unbeaten on the season. Despite some strong matches overall, Milwaukee was only able to secure one point in singles play.

That came at No. 5, where Alice Shields improved to 14-6 on the year with a complete 6-2, 6-2 decision over Siri Kongara.

Sara Simonova gave Leanne Kendall all she could handle at No. 4, falling 4-6, 6-2, 10-3, after taking the first set.

Anika Tylek also had a strong showing before falling, dropping her match at No. 2 by a score of 7-6, 6-2.

Up next, the Panthers wrap up three in a row away from home with a trip across town to take on Marquette Feb. 26. Start time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
