Malone Collects Third Weekly Honor from Horizon League

INDIANAPOLIS – For the third time this season junior Madi Malone has been selected as Horizon League Player of the Week as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.
 
Malone helped the Panthers to another 2-0 weekend, which included wins over Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday, and IUPUI on Saturday afternoon. With the two wins, the Panthers are now 9-2 in league games and are in first place in the standings heading into the last weekend of October with three weekends left to play during the 2023 regular season.
 
Malone led Milwaukee in several categories this weekend, which included a team-best 41 kills and an average of 4.56 kills per set. She also led the Panthers with 26 digs for an average of 2.89 per set. The junior also added two service aces and had a pair of blocks on the weekend, while leading MKE with 44.5 points on the week.
 
On Friday, Malone set new season-highs with 26 kills and 56 attacking attempts, just three kills shy of her career-best set in 2021.
 
She currently leads the team with 314 kills this season, which is second-most among all Horizon League student-athletes. Offensively she is averaging 3.25 kills per set, with a hitting percentage of .244. In conference matches, she has 156 kills, and has upped her kills per set number to 3.80, with her hitting percentage nearly 50 points higher at .292 in league action.
 
On defense, Malone is second on the Panthers with 232 digs, which is 16th best in the Horizon League. Of those digs, 101 have come in 41 sets of conference play, while her receiving percentage is a team-best .946 in conference action.
 
In 86 career matches, Malone has 991 kills and is hitting .223 on 2,799 attacking attempts. She has totaled 48 career service aces and added 52 assists on offense, while she also has 813 career digs, and 92 career blocks during her three seasons with the Panthers.
 
Milwaukee returns home after four-straight road matches, as the Panthers welcome in Youngstown State on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. from the Klotsche Center.
