MILWAUKEE, Wis. –
Kamy Peppler of the Milwaukee women's basketball team was named Horizon League Freshman of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday morning.
The award marks the first of Peppler's career and first this season for the Panthers.
Peppler was huge in both games this weekend and helped lead the Panthers, averaging 16.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. She shot 52.6 percent (10-for-19) from the floor, 50 percent (4-for-8) from three-point range, and 81.8 percent (9-for-11) from the free throw line. Against Northern Kentucky, Peppler came alive in the fourth quarter for 14 points and finished with 16 and seven rebounds. In Saturday's win over Wright State, Peppler went off for a career-high 17 points on 4-for-7 shooting from the floor and 7-for-8 performance from the line. She added three assists in the win. Peppler has now reached double figures in three of the last four games and is shooting 45.9 percent from the floor in Horizon League action.
Peppler and the Panthers will return to action on Thursday as they take on league-leading Cleveland State at 6:00 pm CT.
