MILWAUKEE – Eden Holt of Houston, Texas, has signed with Milwaukee and will join the roster of the men's basketball team, head coach
Bart Lundy announced today.
"Eden is a highly-competitive and proven point guard at the junior college and NCAA Division I level," Lundy said. "He possesses elite speed and shot-making ability, while also making everyone around him better."
Holt, a 5-foot, 10-inch, 170-pound guard, comes to the Panthers after spending last season at Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas.
"We are excited to add Eden and his toughness to our program," Lundy said.
He helped lead the Grizzlies to a 23-9 overall record last season while appearing in 29 games, making starts in 27 contests. He led the team in scoring with a 12.9 point-per-game average, connecting on 41.6 percent of attempts from the floor as well as an impressive 82.4 percent (70-of-85) from the free-throw line. He led the team in three-pointers made, as well as assists (4.7 apg), assist/turnover ratio (2.2), and steals (1.2 spg). He also chipped in 2.7 rebounds per game and scored in double-figures 18 times – topped by a 26-point outburst against Coffeyville in December. He handed out six-or-more assists on 14 occasions.
Holt spent the 2020-21 campaign at the University of Tennessee at Martin, ending the season with per-game averages of 9.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per contest for the Skyhawks.
That followed a very successful freshman year at Williston State College in Williston, North Dakota, where he was an All-Mon-Dak Athletic Conference honoree. Holt averaged 18.8 points and led the MDAC in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.8), while also ranking in the league's top-10 in free throw percentage (.829, second), scoring (18.8 ppg, third), three-point field goals made (93, fourth), three-point field goal percentage (.431, fourth), assists (4.4 per game, fifth), field goals made (189, fifth) and free throws made (92, eighth). Holt also chipped in 2.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals over his 30 appearances.
Overall, Holt went off for at least 20 points on 13 different occasions – including three 30-plus point performances. His career-best effort of 34 points came at Lake Region State in February, which included a career-best eight made 3-pointers.
Holt was an all-district standout in high school, spending the 2018-19 campaign on the prep circuit at Redemption Christian Academy in Troy, NY. Prior to that, Holt played at Tompkins High School, helping the Falcons to 31 wins and a 6A state runner-up finish in the program's first-ever state tournament appearance while winning region and district championships as a senior. One year earlier, he helped lead Fort Bend Austin High School to its first playoff berth since 1999.
