GLENDALE, Wis. – The Milwaukee baseball team exploded for seven extra-base hits on Wednesday to top MSOE 12-4.
Heavy rain in the area forced the teams to halt the game short to just six innings.
The Panthers (13-17 overall) wasted no time getting on the board as
Conner Goodman,
Aaron Chapman, and
Jack Thelen each recorded RBI hits in the first for a 4-0 lead.
MSOE (13-13 overall) responded with a solo home run but
Mark Connelly got it back with a single up the middle to drive in
Ty Olejnik.
Then the bats again came alive in the fourth. Milwaukee totaled four hits, all for extra bases including solo home runs from Thelen and
Tommy Benson.
Chapman doubled one in and
Nate DeYoung ripped an RBI triple to put MKE on top 10-1.
On the hill,
Curtis Sheahan got his first start for MKE and tossed four strong innings.
He allowed just the one homer until the fourth when the Raiders rallied for three runs off three hits. The graduate student finished with five hits allowed and six strikeouts in the outing.
James Severson took over in the fifth and had no trouble, allowing just one hit and striking out five in two complete frames.
MKE added two more runs in the sixth before the rain came and shortened the midweek matchup.
Thelen finished the day 3-for-4 with a double, home run, and three RBI. Chapman had a pair of doubles in a 2-for-3 performance while Connelly and DeYoung also had two hits each.
Milwaukee returns to Franklin Field on Friday to host UIC in a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 pm. Live coverage links available on
