FRANKLIN, Wis. – Iowa jumped on the Milwaukee baseball team early and totaled 16 runs on 18 hits to hand the Panthers a 16-2 setback at Franklin Field on Tuesday.
Control was an issue all day for the Panthers as Iowa drew 10 total walks including four in each of the first two innings.
The Hawkeyes (17-12) took advantage and scored six runs in the opening frame to get ahead.
Milwaukee (11-14) got on the board in the fourth as the Panthers were the benefactors of walks, drawing four in the inning.
Justin Hausser brought in one with a walk and
Tommy Benson scored another with an RBI groundout.
Iowa put up another big number in the sixth as it totaled eight runs on six hits for a double-digit lead.
Nate DeYoung reached base twice, tallying Milwaukee's first hit of the game in the sixth inning and drawing a walk in the eighth.
Logan Schulfer took the loss for MKE, giving up just three hits but allowing four to reach via walk.
