Walstad Earns All-League Recognition

She's one of just four Panthers to earn First Team All-League honors multiple times

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – For the second consecutive season, Megan Walstad of the Milwaukee women's basketball team collected All-Horizon League First Team and All-Defensive Team honors, announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

It marks the second year in a row that Walstad earned both recognitions. She joins a group of just three others in program history to earn All-League First Team on more than one occasion in the Panthers' Division I era. She is just the second Panther in program history to earn All-Defensive Team distinction multiple times.

Walstad has dominated the post all year long, leading the team and ranking among the league's leaders in points per game (14.7, 7th), rebounds per game (9.2, 3rd), field goal percentage (49.1, 3rd), free throw percentage (88.1, 3rd), and blocks per game (1.6, 3rd). The redshirt sophomore is also fifth in the league in minutes per game, averaging 33.6.

This year, Walstad has nine double-doubles to her credit. She has recorded at least 10 points in 23 games and had double digit rebounds in 11 games including a career-high 19 on February 24.

Earlier this season, Walstad became the 28th member of the Panthers' 500-rebound club and 22nd member of the 1,000-point club.

Walstad and the Panthers next gear up for the Horizon League Tournament and will host UIC on Tuesday, March 1 at 7:00 pm.
